Focus and Scope

LITERATE: English Teaching Research Notes is a double-blind peer reviewed, open access journal published quarterly by Pub Academy, publishes empirical and theoretical work in English language education, English as a Foreign Language, and related areas of linguistics and literature, with a strong emphasis on classroom based research. The journal provides a space for teachers, lecturers, researchers and postgraduate students to report concise research notes, full research articles and reflective, theory informed teaching innovations. Contributions should clearly link theory and practice and be grounded in authentic teaching and learning contexts.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Curriculum design and materials development in ELT
  • English language literacy and academic writing
  • English language testing, assessment and evaluation
  • Classroom discourse and interaction
  • Second Language Acquisition (SLA) in instructional settings
  • Critical discourse analysis and language in education
  • English linguistics with pedagogical implications
  • Translation, literature and literary studies in English education

Publication Frequency

LITERATE is published four times a year in January, April, July and October.


Journal History

LITERATE: English Teaching Research Notes has been published regularly by Pub Academy on a quarterly basis since 2026.


Article Processing Charges

There are no fees for submission, peer review or publication. Authors and readers pay no charges at any stage of the process.
